I wanna get me some wheelgun!!!

Bought a Glock 21 a little bit ago. Fine weapon, but it is just a Glock.

I have a variety off CCW's. . .semi and revolver. . .

These are the ones I would like to consider:

Ruger SA blue and color case harden Blackhawk - Just always wanted one and they look sooo nice.

Charter Arms Bulldog 44 Spcl - Not sure why, but I like this.

S&W 45 ACP with moon clips - What model is this? Looking for something 3 - 4" SSS or blue

S&W 13 or 65 3" - I do have plenty of CCW's, but I've always wanted a 13 3" cerakoted and used as a CCW with fixed sights and all.

S&W 586 4" - Not even sure why I like this gun, but the full underlug barrel looks sweet

Uberti 45 LC - Worried about mixing my current 45 LC Blackhawk ammo with it, but other than worries, it would be fun.

S&W 29 44 mag 4" or 6" - I like this gun, but realistically, these things ALWAYS go for big money. . .so probably NO.

Are there any other classic great revolvers I'm missing? Surely there are. What is your fancy?

This is all a dream as I thing any gun money will be used on ammo, components and holsters this year, but a guy can dream! Oh yea and I'm really thinking O/U shotgun which would be a huge buy if it happened.

This one, if it is your first .44 I'd recommend the 6" barrel.

I started off with the 6.5" below and now I have many, although not nearly as many as some.....

I'm not a S&W expert, but I think the .45 acp revolvers would be the Models 1917 (blue military model) and 625 (stainless w/adjustable sights). I've seen 4" and 5" 625s.

Other classics? Colt SAA, Python and Diamondback, Freedom Arms 97 small frame (I know they're not old, but it's still a classic design IMO), S&W 5" model 10, 6" model 14 (target .38)....

Looks like a good list. The Smith Thunder Ranch M22 is a good .45 ACP Revolver.

S&W 625 - 45 acp revolver. Same revolver that Jerry M shoots.
SA revolvers are fun and in my opinion the DA/SA will be even MORE fun

I picked up both of these vintage blue S&W .357 double-actions via armslist this month... Top: 6" bbl. Model 586... Bottom: 4" bbl. Model 19-4. I've noticed the nicer double-action revolvers are generally gone within about 3 days now... And people are paying more for them too... (I like 'em a lot)...

Nathan, how about a Ruger Security-six.
Also, maybe for a bit less dinero, a S&W model 28/Highway Patrolman?

If I could get a model 28 for less than a security six, I'd get all over it.
The DA on a Smith is far superior, IMHO. I own both.

Old or new version? (I have both.)

They're just fun guns to own. It's not like I'm hurting for more "respectable" guns, either. I have a Colt Python and S&W Model 19-3 sitting right next to my Bulldogs in the safe.

I'm quite fond of the good-old Model 10. I have three, plus a pre-10 that are all great guns.

Here's my 10-5 4" with standard barrel. Love it.

How about a GP100 3" stainless?

Wonderful gun. (Thought i had a better pic, though.)

I had a GP100 when they first came out in about '87 or so, just going by memory. It had a little hitch in the action like it would sometimes bind up. Did they fix that or was it just my newness to DA revolvers at fault?

Mine has been okay. I have 2 of the stainless 3" models, and I used to have a blued 4". Never any problems and no hitch noted in the trigger. I do know that some revolvers are capable of being short stroked in rapid fire and will freeze mid trigger pull. I've also had revolvers with too small of a crane to barrel gap bind up on me until I got them fixed.

Strafer, I guess my post was a little confusing. I meant you could probably find S&W mod. 28s cheaper than mod. 29s.
I'd be all over them too if cheaper than Rugers!

I'm seeing a lot of recent attention for the K-38 Masterpiece and Combat Masterpiece, which became in 1957 the Model 14 and Model 15. These were superbly accurate .38 Special revolvers and can still be found in nice condition for $500 or less.

CWKahrFan,

Your 586 is moving to the top of my list of the gun I MUST own one day. I never laid eyes on one until about 2 months ago and something about the full under lug in the blued finish put me in a daze. The 686 is a fine looking gun also but that 586 . Of course with finishing my AR build, starting a hunting rifle build and moving soon I don't see one in my near future, So enjoy it extra for me haha.

Revolvers

Do not over look the 581/681 fixed sight version of the 586/686.
I haven't seen any mention of the J frames either, I'd rather have a revolver in my pocket over a pistol (semi-auto).
