no pics yet... but I will soon... lets see your cartridge conversion C&B guns...
just bought my 2nd open top cartridge conversion gun to add to my single action collection...
1st one was a lil 36 pocket revolver my buddy strengthen up & chambered for 32 S&W (no extractor on that one ) 2nd one I just got, is ( sorry, not really into C&B revolvers ) a 44 open top that's been rebarreled, strengthened & chambered in 32-20... that one has an interesting spring loaded flip tab extractor both are steel guns with brass grip frames, I think both were purchased originally from Cabela's if that helps with the brand the guns started out as, but my local builder buddy has completely rebuilt these, making alot of tool steel parts, adding extra retention components ( more than just the wedge... the 32 -20 also has a tapered roll pin which helps keep the headspace tighter & more consistant )... BTW... was at my local builder buddys house the other day, & a civil war re-enactor came over with a really nice converted revolver that he wanted some work done on, & after he left, I commented on how nice looking it was... next thing I know, my buddy's pulling out revolver # 2 & asking if I wanted to buy it... how could I resist ??? got any pics of your guns ???

Colt's Sig Dragoon's before their 45colt conversions: Here's one of the girls with the conversion and a close up of the loading groove and gate: And here they are dressed up for the dance with their little brother Remmie: |

Thanks for the pics love the dragoons... so there isn't an easy way ( conversion kit, or ??? ) to put a shell extractor on those guns ???
sorry, new to this end of the sport... my 32 S&W pocket doesn't, & my 32-20 have a very nice "trick" one...

I use a brass rod bent like an allen wrench then dipped in rubberized tool dip to keep down the scratches.
They make ejectors for certain models, none for the dragoons that I've ever seen. |

Can you still use the old BP cylinders or is the transition permanent?

If done right you can swap from cartridge to original BP cylinders in seconds.
I had mine done by the Smith recommended by Kirst the maker of my conversions. Money well spent in my opinion. I use them for Cowboy Action Shooting. |

Tayor's timed mine so I can use either cyl. Have not fired it yet, should be interesting with the 12 in. barrel, was thinking of schofield rounds to start out as they are shorter, have looked around, some have them, some don't, any thoughts on that?

Rigmarol,
I used a hack saw, files, machinist square, a dremel for the loading port, and a bench grinder. Went about it the old fashion, cheap way, and surprising myself with what taking your time can really do. I've always been a craftsman but this was my first at gunsmithig. |

so I assume, that one gets a brass trigger guard back on it, or are you leaving it trigger exposed ???

The tigger guard is being oxidized right now, giving it a black petina, then yes it will go back on.

Well got the snubby done just waiting on the bluing kit and front sight to show up. As you can see the brass trigger guard didnt turn out black like I described, tried liver of sulfer on it. It did dull the patina and give it a slighty more brown look. i guess I'll stick with it. But cleaned it up put it all together and took it to the range today. First time with the konverter in it, 6 outta 10 shots on the paper at 25yds with just the V notch, no front sight. I'm Happy!!! haha

Yea, I think I'm going to keep the brass as is now. It does give a good contrast. Haha, I just filed crosses on the flat tops and removed any bures with some 0000 steel. Figured they'ed be good defense rounds, kinda a hollow point knock off. Then some old vets told me they were illegal as hell!! So i blasted em off at the range yesterday.

It's not illegal to do that to a pistol bullet. Yet... I'm sure it's on somebodies list somewhere.
