Better Brass

Going to ordering up some new bulk brass for a couple different calibers and would like some of yous guys's opinions on which brand is best for consistency and quality.
All opinions expressed on this thread will be taken with a grain or two of powder.

Thanks,
Smedley

We put em in at the bench and then send em away down the barrel.

Ive always had good luck with Winchester, R-P(remington), Star-Line and a couple others....i tend to stay away from PMC, Federal, and most military stuff(the crimps are a pain in the butt.

Plated brass should be avoided like the plague. This comes from an article by one of the top guys in US. He explains that every firing the case expands but the nickel tends not to and it work hardens. Then it starts to flake of in minute hard flakes and gooses up your nice shiny chamber! really what you want. As an engineer of many years ( seems strange to say that, I still feel 20 or so! ) I thoroughly agree with that scenario too. I have only onced used plated brass ( Federal) and that is exactly what happened, got rid of the 7.62 concerned, when I realised what was happening. I would also say in my defense that the rifle was secondhand and the brass came with it.

Some so called "experts" shun the use of nickled brass...ive used it for years in several different calibers and never had any adverse side effects from it.

If its rifle, Federal gold medal (if available) or Lapau. For pistol Starline. I have had good results with these in general.
