Is there a beretta 84 F and a FS version? If so what are the differences in them? Terry

Basically the same gun with the exception of a refinement in the safety of the fs, that eliminated the illusion, on the f, of being able to carry "cocked and locked", which cannot actually be done.

When you say cocked and locked, does that mean hammer back and the safety on? Terry

Yes, but the 84f is not safe to use in this manner, and the reason the safety was quickly changed to the fs variant.

I have a model 85FS which is the slim grip version of the 84FS. It CANNOT be carried cocked and locked. There are only two positions to the safety/decocker, decocked and fire! What some people perceive when moving the safety from the fire position to the decock position is just a spot the lever hits prior to going all the way to the decock position. The gun will still fire in this position. It is not a spot intended for the lever to be left in. Do not carry the gun with the lever in this position!!!
