ak-stlye gas system AR15 uppers

I'm looking into buying the POF-USA upper for an AR15 that i've SBR'd. Has anyone shot one of these yet? It'll be for close-in work, so accuracy isn't of major importance. I need to know about reliabilty and parts interchangability. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The idea proper is a solid one - don't know about the POF-USA performance of it.
