Anybody have the COAL of .308 Hornady TAP 110?

I'm trying to work up a .308 load for the 110-grain V-max bullet, but since it's such a short bullet I need a good reference OAL. I'm thinking around 2.770"

Anybody have a 110 TAP round they could measure base to tip?

Hornady Manual 7th Edition for .308Win 110 grain V-Max lists an overall length at 2.740". They tested loads in a Winchester Model 70.

If you have a magazine then just measure the inside deminstions of that and have your COL just a little bit shorter so it functions smoothly.

Now the issue I see with "just shorter than magazine length" is that this is a really short bullet. I had thought that rule of thumb was to make sure a bullet at least has as much seating depth as the diameter of the bullet (~.3" for a .308 bullet)...however, this just won't work with the short 110-grain.

On the flip side, seating to just short of the magazine depth will make for very little of the bullet to seated--this is a potential problem, no?

Thanks for the book length of 7.740" I wonder how much further out you can go (in order to get closer to the lands yet still having enough bullet seated base).
