Is this common.....?
I was weighing some bullets tonight, first time I've ever done so and came across something that I thought odd since I've never weighed my bullets out before.
I was weighing some Hornady 139gr BTSP for my 7mm RM. I had a range of 138.0 up to 139.0. Most of the bullets were between 138.2-138.3 and 138.6-138.7, with a few here and there in the rest of the range. I was just wondering if this wide of a weight range was common. |

1 grain is not a wide weight range. That is a tolerance of less than 1% (.7 %).

That is totally fine. I reload hardcast lead with a variance of 1-9 grains, and they shoot just fine.

Yes, that is normal variation. Some match target bullets have less variation.
When I was shooting in matches, I used to weigh & group accordingly. |
