What is best distance from eye for Aimpoint M4?
Is there a best distance from the eye for mounting an Aimpoint M4? Is farther away better?

For you personally....maybe
With a good mount it is easy to experiment I find that I pick it up better with my AR's where it is closer to my eye rather than my AK's where it is further forward It works well in either position |

Well, right, it doesn't matter, but in my view, generally, the farther forward, the better, for quickly picking up a flash picture of the entire "landscape" of your target environment, which can help you get on target faster. Really far forward mounts like the Ultimak on an AK and a forearm mount on a AR work very well - they are super quick. But the tradeoff is having more weight-forward balance.
