Well, I still shoot 45acp, and NOBODY is as old as I am! But, I do shoot (now) a 9mm on those days at the range when I want to shoot 100-150 rds all at same time! I take both, and just fire maybe 40-50 of the acp---it's my carry sidearm. Nothing against the 40---I think it's a very good compromise. But, my favorite "compromise" is 9mm+P+ !! Try that some time.

Im 37 and think the .40 short and weak is a pretty laim round. the 10mm it was made from is a better round for defense and the fireball it throws will scare most bad-guys away even if you miss...lol

I have used it to kill deer as well as 9mm and 45. There was no real difference between any of the three. I see no real reason to spend $$$$ on 45 and 40 when they didn't kill any better than the 9x19mm...... |

I have the S&W 40 compact and I LOVE IT...very accurate, not too concealable, so I carry a Kahr pm9 with +p rounds, but for the range, and sleeps beside me at night, it's a great round and gun IMO

are you attempting to show that older people are adverse to change? I believe you are correct, but i think that many people will not be able to admit that they are being close-minded about the .40
personally i am with them, .45ACP all the way. But i can admit the .40 is a great round. Not quite a 10mm, but still a fun round. YK

I am 51 and am still a .45 ACP shooter. If I want a .40, I'll use my 10mm. Don't have a .40, don't want a .40.

30 yrs old here and don't like the .40S&W. But then again I prefer to carry my 9mm's to my .45ACP's.

40 and don't dislike it, I just never shoot it much. I've put conversion barrels in two of my .40s and traded one for a 9mm. I tend to shoot more .45 and 9mm.

29 and I'm not a big fan. I like the .357, .45 but the .40 has a bit of a snap I cant get used to. I would like to shoot it more though....

In my 60's. I prefer the .45, and just recently started shooting a 9mm to save $$$ at the range. I've thought about the .40, it isn't a bad cartridge, but I've shot a .45 for so many years I know what it will do even at very long ranges.

I'm 26, have owned 3 .40's, a ruger p-91, a sig p226, and a high point .40. Somewhere along the way I have traded or sold all 3. I just haven't thought of a purpose that the .40 could fulfill that either a 9mm or .45acp couldn't. Just my .02

I'm 63 and the only reason I shoot a 9 mil is cost otherwise I'd be shooting a .40 S&W or a .45. 9mm is just allot cheaper when you don't reload.

I am 48, I have a G19 in 9mm and several 45's. I also have a 6-inch 1911 Longslide in 10mm. But, the little kahr MK40 fits in my front pocket and will shoot 180gr Speer Gold Dot ammo about 1000 fps. It is the gun that does not get left in the gun safe as often as the others. The 40 is almost up to 357 mag levels in a tiny gun in the MK40.

41-50
My first semi was a glock 22. that was also the last 40 i ever bought. I have 9's, 357 and 45's. dont really see the need for the 40. I sold the glock and bought another 9. |

I'm 33 and had a 40. I liked it but recently traded it in for a 9mm that I will run +P ammo through. My next pistol will probably be a Colt Delta 10mm.

37 here. I had a .40 CZ for a brief time, just couldn't warm up to the SNAP of the round. Sold it and got a 45.
