This is a silly question but one I have to ask as I am an ignorant person. I see 1911 parts everywhere. How many of these 1911 parts would fit into my M1991A1? I have never compared a 1911 to a 1991 side by side.

Just about all the 1911 parts will fit the 1991 except the firing pin, the hammer and sear and they would work if the pistol did nnot have the firing pin safety installed.

Actually, the sear is no different in pre or post-series 80 guns. The hammers ARE different, in that the pre-series 80 hammers have a captive half-cock notch and the newer ones just have a non-captive "shelf"...but they will interchange with no problems.
