trigger problem with winchester 190 22lr

I have an old winchester 190 22 rifle that the trigger is very hard to pull
I asked a friend what he thought could be done and he said the gun wasnt worth it, I hate to give up on does anyone know how to make it better?
Are the parts to be replaced? I am not a gunsmith so I question taking it apart.
HELP please.
