Seating problems with cast bullets

I am new to reloading, so any help will be appreciated.

I purchased 125 grain 9mm Kead cast bullets and started reloading my first batch this week. I use a Dillon 550 with Dillon dies.

Here is my problem, a bullet almost slips into a resized 9mm cartridge without any belling of the cartridge. A ever sight belling results in the bullet sliding down into the cartridge. If I don't bell the case then I get a sliver of lead on the cartridge after the bullet has been seated. If I bell the case the bullet slides into the cartridge and sits on top of the powder. When it does that I can't regulate the cartridge length. I have tried this on several brass cartdridges.

My conclusion is that the bullets are simply not the right diameter and I may not be able to use them. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help.

Jim,
They should measure .356 , so check them with your Mic.
At least that's what my vendor shows, and I have never had a problem with any of Mike's cast bullets in any caliber that I reload.

Enjoy reloading, once you work out this snafu!

If your bullets are good, you might check that your sizing/decapping die is screwed down far enough. Could be that the brass isn't getting resized?

Die Set Right

I shouldn't be commenting, as I use Lee equipment not Dillon.
Assuming the Dillion is similiar in this respect, set the die as instructed and it should decap and size the brass to specs.
From what you have said, something sounds amiss if your casing is being "stretched" to the point the bullet drops down to the powder level.
One thing for sure, don't "doctor" anything up and head out to the range!

What is the stamp on the dies??

Is it 9X23, or 9mmLuger, or 9X19, or 9X18??????

Well, there is nothing to say the die couldn't be made off sized. I once bought a set of RCBS 45 LC dies. The sizer was stamped 45LC but it was actually a 44 Mag sizer. Just a factory,, ah nutz!

My error

My mistake guys. I was using cartridges that had been shot from a Glock and I had not resized them. After resizing the shells they worked perfectly. I am now extremetly happy with he Kead bullets as they shot very well at the range last night.

Thanks for the imput, sorry for the rookie mistake.
