DPMS RFA3-C Range report

So I finally got to go to the shooting range!

I have never sighted in a rifle much less shot an AR-15.

My rifle DPMS RFA3

First target sighting in my Nikon Prostaff by myself and have no experience what so ever!

Second target still making adjustments.

Third target

The range master told me I was shooting 1/2" group at 100yds, again I'm a newb and I'm not exactly sure if this is good.

Any comments/tips from you guys would be great!

Very good for a first effort with a new gun. You should be proud.

Jim

I see you are using an off set for your back up sights. How do you like that?

Actually I haven't sighted in the angled sights yet I didn't have enough time at the range that day I think I'm gonna buy some smaller ones I'm not a fan of the sight picture on the magpul ones. But my next move is to sight in the laser on this baby.

Even though the rangemaster told me I should tie it to a boat and use it as an anchor, I've never heard someone talk like that about an H&K

What are the rifle specs? Also what ammo were you using? I have the DPMS MK 12 SPR. With my handloads of 75gr Hornady match bullets I am getting .357moa at 100yds. The MK 12 has the 18" stainless heavy match barrel with 1:8 twist.

Like I said I'm a newb so I'll try my best here.

20" Heavy barrel I was shooting 55g Federal thats about all I know about the ammo. It's just a classic m16 made by dpms actually the mk12 is the rifle I wanted from dpms but hasn't been in stock for over a year so I modified this one as close to that one as I could with the money I had.

thats the exact rifle I have

Well don't sell yourself or the rifle short. DPMS puts out some accurate rifles. Play around with some different types of ammo. You will end up finding what it likes. It'll also get better as it breaks in.
