Year's First Shoot Got Ugly

I knew it was not a good sign, when I tramped through a foot of snow and found myself staring at white plates and poppers. Then there were those hostages, covering two thirds of the paper targets. I never shoot good at the first shoot of the year anyhow!

All 7 in my group had sooo many misses. 3 of the 7 shot a hostage, and I just had to be one of the 3.

Warm weather arrives when?!

I think I saw in SPEED where you are supposed to shoot the hostage.

It sounds like a different color can of paint would have helped. We had sleet and very cold weather last weekend at our 2 gun. I paid my entry fee and did not shoot the match. The 2-Gun is after the Sniper Match. I was cold enough after the Sniper Match that I did not mind skipping the 2-Gun.

hmmmm.....

We had our regular club (www.gmps.ws) match yesterday; it was 23F and snowing.
34 showed up.

(I shot all five stages clean!)

We had our classifier yesterday and I got me a sunburn. Temps were in the mid 70's.

Well, your first shoot of 2010 was probably better than my last shoot for 2009. Probably the worst ever.

Mistake 1: Drinking a bottle of St. Bernardus Christmas Ale, app. 10% ABV. Damned good stuff, but not unlike drinking a bottle of wine.
Mistake 2: Re-sampling the egg nog... and the bourbon and rum used to make the egg nog. Does the cheap stuff really taste that bad?? Better give 'em another 'benefit of the doubt' sip or two...
Mistake 3: Enjoying a Boulevard Brewing Nut Cracker Ale.
Mistake 4: Deciding that 9 PM was NOT too late to start baking Ginger Almond Cookies and Krinkle Cookies for the match.
Mistake 5: Enjoying a short 'resting the eyes' while turning the last batch of Krinkles into carbon briquettes. "What is that smell? What time is it? Oh pooh".
Mistakes 6a, 6b, 6c, and on... all under the category of 'shooting the match'.
