Why have a bedframe when I can have these....

NOT MY PICTURE but my new build will look just like it

I'm currently building another AR-15 except it's a surplussed USAF Slick Side upper that will go on a CORE-15 A2 lower. The original USAF stock is going on the rifle. So it will have the triangle handguards. A1 pistol grip, and A1 length buttstock.

I also acquired a Century Arms C93 Sporter and a IMBEL FAL (Century imported IMBEL receiver built with a IMBEL parts' kit).

Why are so many of the posted rifles not on safe? Learning weapons handling from the Marines its a pet peeve of mine to see a weapon not on safe. Especially with a magazine in it..... Is there a reason, does it look cooler? I feel left out.

If you use proper weapon handling a mechanical safety isn't really necessary in most cases. I almost never use any the of safeties on my firearms at the range. Ive actually handled some guns where engaging or disengaging the safety would cause the firearm to discharge.

There are some really nice pieces in these photos.

Proper weapons handling includes keeping your weapon on safe until ready to fire... Your saying you've never tripped, stumbled, fell in your life? **** happens and when a firearm has a safety why not use it? what possible advantage could you have not having the safety on? Also if a gun fires when you put the safety on I wouldn't want to shoot it...

if the chamber is empty/its being stored my ARs have the hammer "down" (or forward, discharged, whatever). Can't put it on safe at that point. Perhaps that is the case with the pics in this thread?

when in uncle sam's service mine was always hot and on safe.

That's a possibility. Does it help take tension of the spring allowing it to last longer?

Yes, a gun that fires when you put the safety on isn't one that you would want to use, obviously. I was simply stating that I would rather rely on my own safe handling of a firearm than a mechanical part that can fail.

I have tripped, stumbled, and fell before, but never when holding a firearm. It wouldn't matter matter If I did though, because I always have my finger out the trigger guard until I am going to fire.

"All guns are always loaded.
Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
Be sure of your target and what is beyond it."

Don't see anything about always using a safety there.

Anyway,

Miami_JBT, how much did that Ar-180b run you, if you don't mind me asking?
Does it use Ar15 mags, or does it take its own specific type? If so, are they hard to find?
