hornady shell plates
I bought a new shell plate for my Hornady p-7, it says on the back
of the package "will not work on earlier presses such as p-7" without minor modification. Does anyone know what this "minor" mod is? The shell plate I bought is for the newer lock n load presses. I should add that this is the progressive press with multiple stations. |

I think your new shell plate works fine on the older Projector press. However, older projector shell plates have to be modified to work on the newer LNL presses. I could be wrong. I have a LNL that I modified for the new ejection system. All my older shell plates had to be modified to fit on my LNL.
The modification requires a metal lathe and it cuts a groove in the bottom of the plate to allow for the new ejection system.
