Avatars and the ability to quote other members in a reply
Most other forums have avatars for users and the ability to quote users in a message with the click of a button.
Please add these!!!!

TFL is all about high signal and low noise. Almost without exception, avatars add noise. That's the reason we don't allow them.
TFL is all about high signal and low noise. Almost without exception, forums which allow one-click post quoting end up being filled with multitudes of posts quoted in their entirety, with "+1" at the end. Lots of noise with little or no signal getting through. Finally, "most other forums" isn't really a convincing argument here on TFL. We're not those other guys -- we're us. pax |

I see absolutely no need for avatars. They are truly a waste of bandwidth and even more useless than sig lines.
The quote button could be useful but I am not going to campaign one way or the other on that. We could use a few more snilies. |

I see no need, personally, for me to have an avatar, since all of you know what Fabio looks like, with my long blonde hair streaming in the wind, my steely glare and rippling pecs

And with that image burning all the neuron bridges behind it as it develops in our poor brains, I'll close this one.
