Appraisal on a US Army Model 1917 Revolver?

Hello,

I'm a newcomer, if there's somewhere else I should post this, please let me know. I have a US Army Model 1917 revolver,blue with bone grips, left side of barrel says S.&W.D.A.45, top of barrel says Smith and Wesson, Springfield Mass, USA, below that on barrel top is Patented Dec. 17, 1901 Feb. 6, 1908, Sep 14, 1909.

Gun is in fair condition, just curious about the value.

Pojim, it would help if you could post the serial number of your gun. This would help to identify exactly which version of the Model 1917 you have so a possible value can be determined. Hope this helps!

I bought several of these 1917s (Brazilian contract) about ten years ago when they were imported in large numbers, paid between $125. to $200 depending on condition (wish I bought more). I imagine a non-foreign contract model would be worth considerably more especially if it has collector value. These are great guns and in Arizona where open carry is allowed, this is one of my carry guns, any N-frame with a hole that big is pretty intimidating.
Try the blue book of gun values for exact prices on these.

If your 1917 SR # is 150000 to 301000:
EXC=$750.00 POOR=$225.00

SR #335000 TO 336000
EXC=$900.00 POOR=$300.00

SR # 325000 TO 356000
EXC=$1,500.00 POOR=$200.00
