Cimmaron's "original finish" option

Wow! I just got a Thunderer, 5.5 in. in .44-40 with the checkered grips and original finish option they offer, and this is one fine looking pistol! Anyone have any thoughts on this finish? Looks like it's 100+ years old. The muzzle crown "looks" like it has some pitting, but it's a brand new gun.

I'd love to see some detailed pictures! Been thinking hard about ordering a cartridge conversion with their original finish and antique yellow TruIvory grips.

I like the original or antique finnish on um'. Although I have some Old Revs that kinda look that way I haven't purchased one of them... I like the look though.

It don't do much for me, but what do I know

, I like the look of a pistol when it gets some holster wear and the blue gets worn thin in areas, but pitting would drive me crazy. No offense intended, some will love it.

Here's some shots of his new Thunderer with its original finish. Pretty cool, looks like they go to some effort to age them, not just finish wear. I like it!

I'm thinking an 1860 Richards Transition Model 5½" .44Colt (already got the 8") with antique yellow TruIvory would be the bees knees! I eyeballed an original on Gunbroker for a few months, think it was around $1500. Not bad for an antique Colt in fair condition but I wouldn't wanna shoot it much, if any. I might call Cimarron Monday to see how much it would set me back and how long it would take. Hmmmm......

interesting option, but it actually costs extra to get that finish. I'd rather buy a new blued gun, and wear it out myself.

Yeah, I would expect it to but I'd say $65 beats the hell out of what it costs to buy an old Colt. I reckon some folks just don't get it.
