Howdy all? I am looking for a medium load about 800-850 fps using 230gr LRN, WW231 with Winchester Primers. I was going to go with 5.0 to 5.2 grns. any information would be helpful.
Thanks, Colt |

The Winchester reloader's guide is here. I didn't look to see, but I bet it has the data you're looking for.
http://www.winchester.com/reloader/Win_Reloader7re2.pdf Edited by Sport45: I just tried the site and couldn't connect. I don't know if it's temporary or not. Most reloading manuals have W231 data though. [This message has been edited by Sport45 (edited July 16, 1999).] |

5.4 grains WW231, 230 grain "Copper Jacketed" round nose FMJ gave me these velocities - 746, 748, 773. This is out of a Colt 1991A1. Lead bullets should be a little faster.
The 14th edition Winchester Reloading Components Catalog sez this about WW231 and 45ACP. For 230gr RNL 4.5gr = 765, 5.1gr = 870 The #10 Speer Manual says this about WW231 and 45 ACP. For 230gr RNL 5.1gr = 760, 5.6gr = 831 I believe the speer manual is closer to reality. If you go much faster than 750fps with 230 grain bullets you might want to install a slam pad (recoil buffer) on the recoil spring guide. Change your slam pad at least every 500 rounds. |

That looks like a good place to start. I loaded 4.7 of 231 with 230 rnl and got 740 fps. Bill
