Walnut hull cleaning media

Has anyone any good ideas for cleaning the cleaning media after it's reached it's life expectancy?

"cleaning" media

There is really no way to clean walnut or corn cob media.
Due to its nature, it absorbs the oil and dirt from the brass during the cleaning process. You can extend its life by adding additional brass polishing products but when it finally gets really dirty, throw it away.
By the way,. I've found corn cob media is cheaper than walnut media and does just as good a job in cleaning the brass.

I have only had my tumbler a short time, so I have not yet had to do this. But I've been told that you shouldn't add more polish as it does not wear out. Instead add mineral spirits, also called Stoddard Solvent, once it doesn't seem to clean as well to give it a "refresh". It still won't last forever though.

Also, cut up a used (or new) dryer sheet and tumble with it tossed in. They are dirt magnets.

Otherwise, just replace it.

Old Media

I use my old media to make sand bags for benchrest shooting. I fill ziplock bags about 3/4 full of old media and put them inside empty shot bags. My latest bench bags are made out of elk hide. Also the cleaning media is much lighter than sand so it is no problem to haul them to the range or backyard. They work great.

just toss it! it also absorbs lead (from the primers) which contributes to lots of health problems. just toss it every so often and keep living a healthy life. if it was expensive, it would be a different story. just consider it another "consumable" product like primers and bullets.
