Ever wonder about comments you've heard about Newburgh ? Wonder why NYers carry guns when they go there ? Here's why !!

I was stationed at West Point in the early '70's, and even way back then Newburgh was a dangerous place. It was pretty well known at the time that more heroin came into NY state thru Newburgh (very lax security at the waterfront) than thru NYC, I guess not much has changed . . .

My home town, lived here 67 years.I never had a problem.I don't think it is very different than most other cities in the country.

Looks can be deceiving

Perfect example of how looks can be deceiving. From the picture that is posted, with the story, Newburg appears to be a very nice rural city, and one could easily assume that Newberg would be a quiet and safe place to spend time. This just reinforces that we need to be aware of our surroundings at all times, not paranoid but alert.

Interesting, and Old Bear's correct.

But then, we all know that, and this isn't on topic for T&T.

Sorry Mete, but closed.
