.44 Magnum recipe ID

Hi, I'm loading a .44 mag recipe that was photocopied from a friends book, but I can't remember the brand, unfortunately my friend is no longer with us so I can't contact him to get the name of the data book.

I'm hoping someone may recognize it from a book they have.

Bullet: 44-240 SWC (GC) - 240 grain SWC with gas check (.430)
Primer: CCI 350
Case: Remington
Test Firearm: Ruger Redhawk 7.5" bbl
Powder: H110 Start: 21gr. MAX 22gr. (no listed velocities)

Anyone recognize it?

It seems very similar to a couple recipes in my Speer manual but speer does not list a gas checked 240 grain SWC, they list a 225gr and 250 Kieth bullet with the same powder and similar min and max.

I have a very similar load but not exact to yours. I tested it and chrono'd it in a 7.5" Redhawk. It should give you an idea of what to expect form the load. It is:

Bullet: 44-255 SWC (GC) Lee bullet -(.430)
Primer: CCI 350 LPM primer
Case: Speer
Test Firearm: Ruger Redhawk 7.5" bbl
Powder: H110 21.8 Gr.
1.565 OAL
1377 FPS
24 SD

Another similar load

245 Gr SWC (PB) (Lyman 429421 Keith bullet .430)
CCI 350 LPM Primer
Starline Case
Test Firearm: Ruger Redhawk 7.5" bbl.
Powder: 24.0 Gr H-110
1.687 OAL
1448 FPS
21 SD

I also have a couple other recipies for the same 240 grain bullet with higher maximums, but the test firearm has a 4" barrel so I'll have to work up to those maximums slowly in my 7.5" barrel.

Sounds good.
I'm using 22.5gr 296 (same powder) with a mag primer.
I've went hotter, but didnt like the recoil.

RCBS lists a 429-240-SIL that is a gas check as follows:

Gun:Ruger Super Blackhawk
Barrel: 7.5 in
Twist:1:20
Cases:Speer
Primer:CCI 350

H-110 22.2 gr 1411 fps
24.2 gr 1530 fps

The 44-240-SWC has a gas check but my data doesn't list H-110.It does list list W-296 at 22.3 gr to 24.3 gr.

Well, this max of 22 grains of H110 is pretty acurate, the primers are not flattened but are starting to show some flattening, and recoil is signifigant. It's accurate so i guess I'll just leave it right there, I'm positive I'll never get to my other recipes listed maximum with this 7.5" bbl.

I have apparently let my shooting skills atrophy with the 44 magnum, this load will outshoot me when I shoot DA, SA is very accurate.
