NFA Trust & SBR Serial Number

I just purchased two new stripped AR lowers for a new NFA trust - i.e. making a SBR. Since I am "manufacturing" a new gun, can I assign my own serial number to the receiver rather than using the serial number from the original manufacturer? So, where I engrave the name of the trust, city and state I would also include a serial number.

Thanks

I don't think so. I think that since the gun already has a serial, that's it.

Someone more knowledgeable than I will be along soon to confirm or call me an idiot, so hang tight.

You need to use the original serial number, other than that you can engrave any markings you want, your birthday, I am the king of Siam whatever trips your trigger.

Hi everyone. I have another question on a SBR.

Do I need to keep a copy of my Trust with the stamped form 1 or is keeping a copy of form 1 with the gun all that is necessary? The name of my trust will be generic e.g. 123 NFA TRUST.

Keep a copy of the trust with the form 1.
