One Powder 30-06 130-165 grn
Any recommendations for one powder for 30-06 125,130,140,150 and 165 grn bullets ? Also what primer recommended. I know it would not be optimum but for whitetails 50-150 yds would work.

IMR4350 or IMR4831. Standard rifle primers. It will kill whitetails, no problem.

WW 760 will do most anything in the 06.

H414, Hornady 165gr BTSP, Remington cases, CCI 200 primers. First 3-round group was 2" high, also pulled one of the shots. Adjusted the scope and fired the next 3-round group at the tip of the triangle. That's a 3-round group under 1/2" at 100yds.

Joe,
I don't know why you double-posted this question? Look at my response to your other thread on the same topic. I'll briefly repeat my warning here that slow powders with light bullets can result in secondary pressure spikes that can damage barrels. Your 125 grain bullets will get much better performance with something faster. IMR3031 will get you 200 fps more velocity over 4350 or 4831 and do it with 100% powder burned in the barrel, vs. 90% or so for the others two (meaning they waste 10% completely), so it will require less charge weight and cost per load.

Nick has made a very good point. Personally, I don't shoot light bullets (under 150 grains) in a .30-06. I have varmint rifles for that.

Not really a double post. First question was why not use re7 with all the bullets (which i have done and all shot great- no deformed cases-real light loads-whitetails only) also my win 70 has 18.5 barrell ported and crowned by prof gunsmith. Second question was if not re7 what powder WOULD do it all. Thanks to all - joe

Sierra manual shows 125 grn and 54.8 grns 4064. If re7 is faster burn and loaded really light (but in limit) still see no reason not to unless someone can convince me it is unsafe the way i am doing it. I do each by hand and scale weigh each charge.

Have used IMR 4064 for 30 years in 30-06, for 110-180gr with total satisfaction.

Think about and try 4895. Try Winchester Standard Large Rifle Primers. Other brands work too, it's simply that I've used Winchester for many years. Maybe a bad habit, of which I have several. Slow powders in fairly large capacity cases combined with light weight bullets or REDUCED charges of slow burning powders (4350, 4831) have contributed to explosions, detonition, with attendant damage to rifles and possibly the person shooting same.
