Remington 1100 bolt stuck open

New to this forum. I have a Remington 1100 that I have not used in years. Went to shot it over the weekend and the bolt is stuck open. When I push the silver tap on the carrier the assembly moves, put the bolt does not close. Any ideas would be great.

Make sure it is not loaded. Pull The barrel. Pull the trigger group. Clean everything. If you don't have an owner's manual, download one and read it.

here are a couple of links

http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=9744

http://www.remington.com/pages/news-...s-manuals.aspx

Google "troubleshooting remington 1100" and you'll see many sources. Youtube has associated videos. It may as simple as gunk/grit/rust buildup in the trigger/bolt assembly.

Good luck and let us know you make out.

cheers!
