Switching Brass

I have picked up 500 cases of once fired LC 5.56 brass. I have been loading PMC brass for a while now. Since I'm switching, will I expect to re-work all my loads? I have a feeling I am but might as well get a little input.

When changing any component or lot number, reduce.

A chronograph and records of your established loads will get you back on track very quickly.

Weigh the brass. If the LC is heavier, it will call for a load reduction. If not, I would not sweat it unless I were already loading at the maximum.

It may call for primer crimp swaging or reaming, too.

Click on this for a table of 223 case weights and water capacity.http://thefiringline.com/forums/atta...4&d=1336880187
They are so close, around 1% differences, that IMO you do not have much to worry about. At less than max loads, for 223, a change in brass, even between Mil and commercial, is insignificant.

7.62/308 DO Vary much more. In 308, yes you would work up again.

By all means, do weigh them. IIRC, PMC is on the heavy side for 223 brass, so you will probably be fine.

It depends where you are on your charges. If the book says for example 63gr Varget, 66.5 max and youre already at 66.3gr I'd back off. But if you are at the lower end of things ex. 63-64gr I would start off there whether changing brass or trying a combination for the first time.
