Replacement stock for Savage 12 with bull barrel
My Savage has the cheapie factory stock. A replacement would be good, if the accuracy doesn't change. Are there any brands of replacement stocks that are good?
An internet search turned up a company named 'BOYDS'. They have some thumb hole stocks that look good. There is no verbage about bedding in the tech data. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Colorado Redneck |

Choate has some interesting options. Richard's Microfit has some nice stocks if you want to finish one yourself. -tINY |

What kind of stock?
I think a thumb-hole varmint/target stock with pillar bedding. I found a site that works specifically with Savage stocks and accessories. In searching the internet, it seems that sometimes it is difficult to get a "drop-in fit" without some hassle, for Savage rifles.
Evidently, pillar bedding is not for the novice? I think I will search that topic here in the FL. |

Check out Choate, as tINY mentioned. I have two of them
on 10FP's, one in .308 and the other .223. They are a real improvement over the factory. |

stocks
Choate makes the Super sniper and the varmit stocks for the savage that has aluminum bedding blocks in them. I have one of each and like them

Thanks for the advice! Really appreciate your help.
That laminated stock was really pretty. The way I use my guns, a composite stock is probably better. When driving through dry creek beds and 4 wheeling to get more prairie dogs, they can get banged around a bit. I try to keep them stowed but sometimes they get dinged. Thanks again. I will check out the Choates and the Hogue stock looks good too. |
