Interesting perspective on the AR pistol... That might be making my short list.

I like single shot rifles, especially when taking inexperienced shooters out... Generally safe after the round is fired lol. Most new shooters are careful leading up to the shot... After that is when I see lots of mistakes.

Single shots allow for lots more plinking fun per box of ammo.

Sometimes I shoot my semi autos by feeding them one at a time

Another gun with no particular purpose is the Heizer .223 pistol. I want one.

I also want a pen pistol (Braverman, NAA, Stinger) and a G.R.A.D. Knife gun. All intriguing to me; none with any practical purpose at all!

Not saying they're bad or anything, I just prefer bolt actions, the same could probably be Said about all the rifles I own(obsolete at least).

Sorry about that, I don't aim to offend.

Mo,
You're fine and none taken. Once had a 12yrs. old kid in one of our classes, make the following comment;

"Isn't that a whole lot of work for one shot??" ......

I once shot a Raven Arms .22 that was effectively a single shot where you got to clear the stove pipes every shot.

The only guns without a purpose are those that don't function.

But at least the Raven keyholes @10' so it leaves a bigger boo-boo on the attacker when the .22rf bullet strikes sideways!

Well, almost. .....

I know a guy that puts displays together, for stores and businesses as well as Taxidermist compositions and adds old non-functioning guns. One time he did all the walls in a restaurant. He also makes floor lamps. Breaks your heart.....

Define "practical". Highly specialized target arms such as the Anschutz Free Pistol or the Winchester Model 52, guns made for any specialized sport or competition could be labeled "impractical". Guns for which ammunition is extremely hard to find or unavailable-some of the old larger than 22 rimfires, e.g.
Perhaps we should focus on "impractical" or "unsuitable". Relying on a single shot-in a minor caliber-for SD, or a refined target pistol for CCW.

I think it depends on your own views.... Some think no guns have a purpose...

Most on this forum have a hard time thinking of one

Id put a S&W 500 in that category, and I don't even want one.

I long ago gave up trying to justify my firearms purchases. I want what I want. Doesn't have to make sense to anyone else;-)

I might suggest my NAA Mini in 22S. But some folks have used them successfully in SD.

Is there such a thing? I can practically find a use for any firearm... :P like was said before, as long as I want it, and it goes bang, to me that is a practical use...

For about the same price, you can get the Henry AR7 which is watertight when stored and can have three mags stored as well
Ugh! I have two friends who own the Henry survival gun. I agree that it's watertight. But what a POS! Sorry if my language offends, or my opinion is contrary to those who own this gun and think it's worth the $260 price tag. It's ONLY merit, is that it seals up in it's own self. Flimsy, inaccurate and uncomfortable.

That little badger piece could be sealed up in a watertight bag just as easy. And is smaller for packing away or slipping into a backpack. +1 for the Badger!

I guess it's a "survivor rifle." I had an AR7 and sold it. How can you hunt for survival with a rifle that has such a lousy trigger and sights that 6" groups at 50' are the norm?

IMO useless guns would include all the lever action pistols styled after Steve McQueen's "Mare's Leg." The 45/410 revolvers. The S&W Model 58 (really doesn't fill any particular revolver need well).
