Hathcock's book is amazing! Reading in school makes me want to read very little outside of school, but military books are my absolute favorite. If you want two good ones I've read most recently definitely try out Chris Kyle's book and Marcus Luttrell's book.

There are lots of good military books, though I tend to gravitate towards the technical end of things. Never cared much for stories where everyone gets killed. However, there are some especially interesting ones, just the same. There are good books about both Gettysburg and Waterloo. Rommel wrote an interesting book and our local library has a copy.

I have a theory about first-hand military books. The first ones that come out just after a war are written by the generals and admirals. The ones written by the privates tend not to appear for another 30 or 40 years. They generally don't write about the same things.

Anyone read Enemy at the gates?
