Anyone know of a good source for a replacement stock and fore end for a Winchester Model 12? I am not looking for fancy; I'm looking for functional. In fact, a composite stock would be great, if such a beast exists. I want to turn an old beater 30" full-choke 12 gauge into a riot/home defense gun, complete with MMC sights. Suggestions?

I made an old 30" Win 97 into a riot gun and got a set of replacement stocks from Gun Parts Corp. They were good solid walnut and actually were better than I thought they would be. I would give them a try

Thanks. I had considered GPC, but I don't have a catalog handy. BTW, what did you use for sights on your Mod 12? I would really like to use MMC's Ghost ring sights, but I don't know if they would work.

MOSSYROCK:
You can reach Gun Parts @ 914-679-2417. They'll ship COD. I also have ordered stocks from them, new and used. Have never been dissatisfied. HJN |

Thanks for the info, Harley. I found another place that has them, and I would bet that they supply them to GPC. Boyd's has new walnut replacement stocks for the Model 12 that look pretty good.

Mossyrock: While you're at it, and since it's a home-defense deal, you might replace the firing pin.
I've been told it's the only weak part on a Model 12, and it's the only part which has broken on my pet since 1971... Actually, I sorta like the old bitch "as is". There's something about that "extra-full-choke" pattern which intrigues me, aside from its utility in the typical 40-yard quail and dove in my little chunk of the world... Just happen to have a 20" cylinder-bore spare barrel, however. Have fun! |
