Personal Responsibility
The guide may very well have screwed up. But, have you ever heard the saying: you can delegate authority, but you can't delegate responsibility.
Pointing fingers at someone else seems to be the national passtime. Our President is a champion of this. |

^ Roy, You are correct. But in this situation, what was the role of the guide?
If you were in Teds Shoes, what would you expect from the guide? If it were my idea to bait the deer, I would expect the guide to say "No way, that is illegal." When I put my sights on a deer, I would expect the guide to tell me whether it was a legal dear or not. "Nope, not here, we have to let that one go. It is not legal here in this state."

For all we know, the guide did warn Nugent and Nugest did not take the guide's advice.

To his credit, I will say that he is doing a far better job of taking responsibility for his actions than 99.99% of the other celebs and rock stars out there. Hes not trying to throw the guide or his crew under the bus for it, and the judge is taking it easy on him by allowing him to plead no contest instead of guilty (they don't have to let you do that).
It may not be the brightest point of his career, but at least he's handling it with integrity. |

Oh, for all we know the guide did not warn Nugent because he was feeling excited and gooey to be guiding a rockstar so forgot.

I'd blame the guide (the so-called professional or conman) and government for instituting such a collection of BS laws that anyone could find themselves in violation of at anytime.
If any freedom loving American is not violating one law during their daily travels than you are lucky or a wussy. |

Any hunter that hunts anywhere should know the laws, I would never leave it up to someone else. Get the handbook and read it, I see them in every sporting goods store, the corner gas station, walmart etc. Ted is as much to blame as the guide, more so as he shot the thing. |
