Then there is the bolt face, both the 303 and 30/40 Krag have bolt faces, are they the same? I know! Both have diameters.
The dimensions are very close so that there are no problems using resized .303 brass in a .30-40.

FYI
The "Hansen" is OK ammo. I've used it in the past with acceptable results.

Good to hear. if only I had a 7mm Mauser to shoot it with. Or someone nearby to give it to.

I passed on buying some spanish mausers last month so I have a feeling that's where it came from.

FWIW a good cleaner for corrosive ammo is:

1 part rubbing alcohol
1 part Murphy's Oil Soap
1 part water

Mix up in a bottle and swab bore several times soon after shooting. Follow with a dry patch or two and then clean as usual with normal smokeless powder cleaning solvents.

I think this was an old formula for black powder shooters, but it has worked well for me over 20 years or so.

No reason why it shouldn't work; It's a variation on a theme. Hot water with dishsoap always works.
