.223 Lyman 225646 load help

I got this mold and it's a great little bullet. Trouble is it won't cycle an AR15 at the loads given in the Lyman manual. I was using the IMR4227 load of 10-13gr. I've tried increasing the load a bit as I know the pressures would never be as high as a factory or FMJ Varget load. the max load of 13gr IMR4227 is only 26000CUP and I hear that .223's can go up to 50000CUP.

Anybody have any suggestions of a load for this powder to cycle the gas system? I tried 16.4gr. Reloaded 5 each of 16.4, 17.7 and 19.0gr. Hopefully one of those will cycle and still give a good flightpath for the bullet.

Thanks in advance...

You will likely have problems reliably cycling the AR action with any cast bullet load. Cast bullets are difficult to propel at over 2,700 fps, and since they are softer they require less pressure to grave and propel than jacketed bullets, meaning they will likely never hit the pressure required to operate your rifle.
