Question about the Caldwell Rock rest.

When adjusting for verticle height, is the hole in the base threaded (everything above above it has to be loosened) or does the column just slide up and down (with a keyway) from turning the lower wheel? Thanks.

Had to read your question a couple of times, but think I got it now. The post is threaded with a slot for the locking key. The hole is the base is smooth. You adjust the height with the wheel.
