Lyman Powder Pal Universal Funnel Pan question

I picked up a Lyman Powder Pal Universal Pan in the hopes that the built in hood will keep the powder kernels that bounce out of the brass pan of my Lyman DPS 3 from getting under the silver platform.

I don't get a lot of kernels splashing out but the ones that do dive directly under the silver platform. Instructions say that getting powder under there can affect readings. And I brush under the platform but I'm never sure I get it all.
Or that I'm not shoving the kernels into the works under the platform.

My question:

The brass pan weighs 103 gr...the Powder Pal weighs 67 gr (plastic).
Lyman said loaders glue a washer under the Powder Pal because it's too light.

I need to raise the Powder anyway to bring the "hood" above the scale's trickler .Is there a limit (or a grain range) I should stick to in picking something to stick under the Powder Pal to raise it?

A couple of 1/2 inch steel washers raise the Powder Pal to the right height but together weigh 200 grains or so.

What type of scale are you using? It should not make a difference since you will be zeroing your scale with the new pan on.
