Does Ithaca Still Make Shotguns?
I haven't heard very much about Ithaca lately. My dad used to
have an Ithaca Model 37 before he retired from the P.D. he worked for (he sold it), and he said that when he was in Vietnam, one of the guns that he used in the Navy was an Ithaca 37. I think that it's a good design, both loading and ejecting through one port, plus it's renowned to be bug-free, AND it's got a steel receiver. But where are they? Is Ithaca still in business? I remember reading something about Ithaca making an updated version of the 37 called the 87 about five years ago, but I haven't seen anything since. Anyone know? ANM |

They're still around.
See http://www.ithacagun.com The Model 37 was one of the standard Military and Police shotguns 50 years ago. I'm not sure that the current-production example (just reintroduced) is the same as it used to be, or not. Best.

Ihaca has gone through several Chapter Whatevers in recent times, but now seems to be afloat. They recently came out with a new 16 ga Deerslayer and a Homeland Defense "Serious" 37.
Somebody else is making NIDs under license, I believe. The limited feedback I've gotten about the newest 37s has been positive. It's an excellent design, but like the Model 12 and other fine shotguns, dependent on tight machining to work. |

That Ithaca 16ga Deerslayer ought to be great for wild hogs.

Those German Drillings are more often 16s than 12s, Salt. And oft they're the weapon of choice for boar, loaded with Brennekes.
