Nice bucks. Were you able to find them in the daylight? Do you feel deer become more nocturnal when feeders are present?

my .02 on that deer seem to, based on my experience with these cameras, census counts walking transects, monitoring collared deer, and generally being in their house, deer seem to do what ever they want, at whatever time it suites them. If anything had a greater effect on them than the moon, I dont know what it is.
That being said, if you start killing a bunch of deer off a feeder, they will figure it out and either avoid the area or return to it under the cover of darkness.

It's a Cuddleback camera. I've had two or three others, but the cuddleback seems to get me the best pictures.
I don't think feeders makes the deer any more nocturnal that when they are on their regular night patterns.
To much activity around them will definetly make them more leary, and will tend to make them come in when it is safe for them.
I never hunt over my feeders. I try to find the trails coming in and out and try to hunt at least 100 yards on the trail away from the feeders.
The deer in these pictures are in a location that I did not hunt this year, so they are all still walking around (I Hope)
I will probably hunt this area next year. None of these deer were in this area 2 years ago, and I wasn't sure I could get them to come up on top of the mountain with just a feeder, but it looks like there could be as many as 6 different bucks coming into the area now.
I have a few turkeys coming to the feeder, but so far I haven't been bothered by hogs. There is a duck marsh (about 100 acres) at the bottom of the mountain and it was way to thick to hunt, and is covered in water moccasins. Thats where these deer came from, and I was a little surprised to see them up here because there is absolutely NO WATER and No other food for them up here( You'll notice most of the trees are all Pine)

This area is around Sardis Lake in southeastern Okla. between Clayton and Hartshorne.

Yep!
Jack Fork mountain around the PITTSBURG,LATIMER County line. About 10 miles North west of Sardis Lake Dam.
This feeder is one of three feeders in a 25 mile area from each other. Using a 50/50 mix of Whole Soy bean and corn, fed year around. None of the deer in these pictures were here 2 or 3 years ago. They are living proof that the Soy bean and corn, can improve almost any area, if given enough time.

Thanks, WBB. Do you have plans for building that wooden feeder - does it keep the squirrels & racoons out? Sure hope you get one of those bruisers later this year. Note to self: get some soybeans.

Nice pics WBB. I am north of you in Ok and have witnessed a few OK bucks of that quality taken up here. You need to keep the secret a little better about the quality and quantity of Ok Bucks. Next thing you know, we will be flooded like other "big buck locations". I better renew my deer lease early.
Adding soy beans to my feeder next month at Wister lake.

Hey DFox,
I have a cabin down on McGee Creek and have been trying to find out some info on Three Rivers and Honobia. I was told that they are no longer allowing any hunting on those areas. Seems like a lot of real estate going to waste if it's true.
Have you heard anything about this?
I told First Freedom about all the good hunting around those areas, and now it seems like I have lied to him. I can't seem to find out much from any sources on the net. I sure would like to tell him something and not feel bad about it.
He is also interested in some Hog hunting if you can tell him someplace that won't get him in trouble.

Well, Honobia, Push, 3-Rivers, McCurtain, & Ouchita are starting to get a little too far of a drive for someone like me who has to work during the week. But I'm still interested in James Collins & Eufala-Gaines Creek for hogs. In fact, I am going to try hog hunting this weekend down at either Waurika WMA in southwestern Stephens/eastern Cotton counties, or at Gaines Creek, if all goes as planned. Rabbits too.

Alot of Three Rivers is gone now. Sold for whatever reason. Honobia still has alot of hunting available. There is still the Wearhouser land you can hunt. 1.5 million acres for about $16.00 a year. Hard to beat a lease like that. Muzzleloader season is pretty quiet on that acreage.
There are not the ammount of hogs in this area as there are in Three Rivers.
Between Octavia and Honobia are numerous areas where the hogs are thick. Getting out there and finding a spot is easy enough if you check at any feed store. They know someone who is getting alot of damage from the hogs and would be happy if you came and did some pest removal for them.
Three sticks is around the bend and some good hunting available there. The National Forest around Talamina Drive. You know the numbers of orange hunters on opening day of rifle season is a bit scary. I recommend archery season for the Nat'nl Forest.
Good luck finding somewhere. I bet your cabin is right next to a nice little buck hunting honey hole.

Only have 20 acres at McGee Creek, but it borders a 15,000 acre ranch on one side that has VERY restricted hunting on it (only 95 Does and 5 Bucks allowed each year and is kept under lock-down, before, during, and after season) so I have a pretty good area to draw from.
Across the boat ramp on the lake is the stringtown WMA that you can access by boat in less than 3 minutes. You can't take a gun on the lake so you are restricted to bow hunting only, but there are some HUGE bucks over there also.
I keep 5 feeders up on my property, but I only hunt with a bow down there, I have a lease over between Hartshorne and Wilburton that I do all my rifle hunting on.
Occasionally I get to hunt around Sardis Lake with some freinds that own property there.
Mostly feeding deer around the cabin just for my bow hunting, and my wifes enjoyment. She likes to watch them, and we get to raise a fawn or two every so often when their momma gets run over around the lake area.
People around the lake know me and the wife will raise them, so we get one brought to us every so often.
I have a lot of pictures off of my cameras, but since I'm not much of a computer guy, I haven't figured out how to get them on here yet. I will try to show you guys some more as I learn how.
