WWB Brass

What's the general take on Winchester White Box brass?
I recently aquired a good bit of it in 45ACP (free range pickups) and I'm sure it's once fired.
Upon close inpection, it looks kinda cheaply made. The flash holes don't seem to be centered on a lot of them and they aren't very uniform, kinda oblong looking.
Also, a lot of it was scorched down the case wall, that would indicate to me that they don't load it very heavy. Either to save money, or they just load it for general plinking.
I'll probably load it regardless (eventually), but I was just wondering what you all have found in your experiences with this stuff.

I've reloaded a bunch of it.

Seemed to work fine. My typical range and tactical match load is about 5.4 of W231 with a 230 LRN bullet, or 5.6 with a 230 FMJ. No complaints about the brass.

Best,
Johnny

CaptainRazor, I can't speak for 45acp, but have had great luck with 9mm, 223 and 22-250. All of my friends shoot this stuff, so I have an almost unlimited supply, as all but one think reloaded ammo is substandard. As long as I keep getting free brass, I'm not going to try too hard to convince them otherwise.

I'd load and shoot it Captain. Where did you get it, Kanawha State Forest?

Been recycling 9mm WWB through my CZ without any problems. Just seems to keep going. I still have 2000 once fired in some coffee cans that I haven't had to touch yet. When the ones I'm usin now get too long (some day) I'll pitch em and open up the coffee cans. Good stuff..................

I have only been reloading about a year, but all of my brass is WWB. I reload 38/357 and 45ACP.
So far the only brass problems I have had were my own beginner mistakes.
It may not be the best, but it serves my purposes well.

I use it in 9mm and .223. No problems with it.

Sounds pretty awful. If you have any concerns, I'll pay shipping to me.

Load it, shoot it, reload it.

Thanks guys, I was just wondering a little (very little) about it. Of course I'll load it and shoot it. I guess I got used to military cases, they are better stuff, but are getting scarce.
I do like farmall's suggestion though, "substandard" that's good! (Also very sneaky of you).

LAH,
Yes, I picked it up at the Kanawha State Forest range, seems to be a lot of Wal-Mart empties out there. It's the closest range, so I frequent it about once a week or so. It's not to bad out there, you just have to pay attention to your surroundings. I go there anytime AFTER deer season closes and I stop going about 3 to 4 weeks BEFORE season opens and during.
It just ain't worth it during that time.

I've been there Captain. Had an interesting chat with a fellow shooting a 40/65 Sharps once.
