Redo paint on Ruger frame

A friend asked today he has an older Ruger Blackhawk that the paint as worn away on the frame and would like to redo it.BUT with what any ideas ??????

are you sure it isn't bluing

First question would be are you sure it isn't bluing that has been worn off? Either way, the gun, depending on the money he wants to spend can be touched up or completely refinished. Have him check with a smith for prices.

Use a small magnet to check the frame. If it sticks - it's steel, blue it. If it doesn't stick (grip frame) - it's alloy, use AlumaHide from Brownell's.

Yes it is alum. that Alumahide looks like it will do the trick. thanks
