45 long colt

I need a little help.I have a ruger vaquero in 45 long colt.I have reloaded it with sierra 240 gr they have a diamater of .4515.Now i just purchased some 250 gr. cast bullets but they are .454. My question is will they work.Thanks

But don't try launching them at escape velocity; TiteGroup, Universal Clays, W231...........

Fobb, as WS2 said, use light loads. For CAS I use 6.0 grains of Titegroup or 6.4 grains of HP38 (very similar to Winchester 231) and a standard large pistol primer with a 250 grain lead RNFP. I shoot them in two Blackhawks and in a US Firearms Rodeo. These loads will work fine with a .454 size bullet. NG Bruce

Thanks for the post and advice!

Three years ago, I accidently purchased some .454 250 grain lead bullets in 45 Colt. Now I have 500 more rounds I can load.

It would probably be a good idea to slug the chambers and the barrel too. I think there's some unwritten "code" or somethng that says the .45LC has to be all over the place sizewise.
