Anyone use HP38 for .45ACP?

I got a tub of this stuff and assuming it hasn't gone bad, is this decent powder for .45?

Yup, HP-38 is just a little faster than WW 231 which makes it a fine powder for .45 ACP target loads. I would not try for max velocity with it, particularly with 230 grain bullets, but it will do well in target and mid level loads. Good in .38 Special, too.

I use a ton of it. Wish i could still get it. Ive heard that it was the same thing as 231 but never experimented enough to verify it. IVe still got a couple 8 lb jugs to use up first.

Lloyd, the version I heard, but have no way to confirm, is that HP-38 was the remains of the very shortlived WW 230. WW 230 was reformulated to become WW 231, but the changes were minor.

Hp-38

I had heard that HP-38 and 231 are the same powder much as H110 and W296 are the same.
