Nitro Shotshell reloads creased - Need help
I'm loading Nitro and STS shotshells with 24.5 Grains of Universal Clays, Claybuster 3118 wads and 1 1/8 oz. of #8 shot. I'm using a Hornady 366 press. About one shotshell in 12 is coming out of the second crimp station with horizontal creases in the wall of the shotshell about 3/4" above the brass. I can't see anything different about these shotshell before the crimp compared to the others which come out perfect. Any Ideas???? Thanks Rich

i get this once in a while too. if the mouth closes and crimps completely its nothing to worry about. if it doesnt crimp or close the wad didnt seat, overcharge, too much shot etc. there is something wrong with the round if the mouth doesnt close. i get this with about any brand of case but mostly with STS, nitro, federal alum base and silver AA hulls

Thanks SW, they do crimp properly when this occurs so I don't think it's an overcharge problem.

If they crimp properly its likely just a weak case. mark them and discard after you fire them.
