Any 6.5 Remington Magnum shooters?
Most load data on this is on the Remington 600. Which has an 18 inch barrel.

I used to have a 600 but got rid of it when I got my first .264 Win mag. I believe the Rem mag would do wonderfully now with the short action craze that is going on. I still shoot my .350 Rem mag, but it is a short action 700. Maybe I would have liked the 6.5 better had it been a 700.

Just get a 6.5-06.......
Same ballistics, but you can use .25-06 or .30-06 brass. ER Shaw barrel on your action.

No the 264 win mag and the 6.5 rem mag are belted cases.

Its belted. The new trend is un-belted. You must keep up with the trend. Old things being replaced with "better" things is how gun makers try to make money. The Short mags and Ultra Short Mags are a prime example.

This is not new or trendy, and predates any of the new beltless magnums. |

Emcon, I agree that the perception among many is that belted is not accurate. I have seen belted cartridges win a lot of 1000 and 600 yard matches. The accuracy difference is so miniscule, you will never realize it in a hunting situation. The belt was developed for many reasons. Reliability in extreme temperatures is the feature of the belt that many like. My favorite feature of the belt is that it sends the hot gasses away from me when I have a case failure.
