No more quick edit?

When I click the "Edit" button at the bottom of my posts, it now takes me directly to the separate, "advanced" editing page, instead of opening a text box on the same page. For those of us who are a bit OCD about spelling and grammar, that "instant edit" feature was nice. I miss it.

I know hogdogs was unhappy about its lack of smilies, but, sheesh...

Yeah, it was a nice feature... sorry. That was noted in the staff discussion about the change, but there wasn't enough support to keep it in.

Basically a bunch of people couldn't figure out how to use quick edit, and didn't realize they could edit thread titles by clicking "go advanced", so on the balance, disabling quick edit so the "go advanced" view is the only view probably reduces staff workload. (the sad smiley is for the loss of the feature; reducing staff workload is a good thing ).

Well, I like the quick-edit feature but I'm glad that losing it it frees up more time for the Mods to fix thread titles that don't have subjects.

OH! YOU THOUGHT I MEANT YOU!

Actually, over the past couple of weeks, some of us have been ferreting out what has turned out to be a rather large number of spammers.

It's gotten to the point where I can smell them... feel them... hear them creeping around in our databases...

Gun oil salesman, by chance? There certainly has been no shortage of those lately.

Ah. I see. Thanks for the explanation.

Just make 'em do it the hard way, if they can't figure out what "go advanced" means... actually I sort of like that.

And if it means less time wasted for the mods -- well, as another smarmy member, I think that's just peachy.
