got my turkey.

he's a young tom with barely noticeable beard but he's the first I got by calling it in. it was quite exciting to say the least. and even with as un impressive as this little gobbler was, he's still larger than my first

that's always the silver lining, whatever you lose in quantity they sure make up for it in quality.

just got my first one this morning as well. Nice beard on it for a jake. Turkey season might be the best time of the year.

well ours is just kindof a something to do hunt in the spring. turkey and black bear seasons open and close on the same days and our bears aren't very active early in the season so it's kindof convenient to go out and set up your bait sights and look for bear signs and just keep a shotgun along and see if you can get something to gobble at you in the meantime so it's not just a wasted trip to the mountains to see if the bears are active yet...

can't argue with turkey strips and french fries while you wait though

congrats

Hey tahuna, I missed this earlier. Good for you.

Spring gobbler season IS the best time of year, excluding downpours and tornados.
