You're probably correct, that it's more likely vets would click on the thread. And even non-vets that do click, are more likely not to even answer YES or NO. Sure not a scientific poll.

A big "Thank you" to all that have gone before, and to all that are currently serving.

Also, thanks to those that have not served, but appreciate the service of those that have. Far too many don't give a second thought about the price that get's paid for the freedoms they take for granted.

I would agree that the vets are most likely to click on this thread. But they are most likely not going to vote if they are from the Viet Nam era. There were no bands playing when we came home, no home comings, no heros in neigborhood. We were killers and murderers. We were spit on, had garbage thrown at us and then when you needed any medical care as a vet, you were treated like a pig crap. And things haven't gotten much better for the VN vet. I won't even get near a Vet hospital, I care about me too much to let Uncle Sammys morons touch me. They are actively killing the guy I went thru Nam with by over medicating him. Oh well, rant off.

My dad and uncle served in Desert Storm. My grandpa served in Vietnam. My great grandpa served in Korea. I also have lots of older cousins currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. I may not support the war much, but I do support our troops. God bless them for defending my freedoms. I most likely will never serve when I'm 18 because I have a 10 month old son and I don't want to miss ANY part of him growing up. Also too I got a medical condition that won't allow me to join anyways. I'm working on getting that problem to go away though.

I would have to say that Vets are like the best story tellers on Earth. I can just sit for hours listening to my grandpa tell me Vietnam stories. He's a bit on the graphic side, but he's just being real.

So far a little over 10 yrs. in the 82nd ABN (think i'm done after this though). Currently on my second deployment in Iraq. (fifth deployment total)

Caught by a combination of not enough education (HS Diploma only at that time) one Article 15 (failure to secure a weapon) and Gramm-Rudman (massive reduction in forces). 15 years active Federal service. Sure wish I could have finished the other five.

Nope never been in. I tried to enlist several times but they wouldn't let me due to a medical condition. One of the great regrets of my life.

I had to vote no because I only became a citizen of the US recently, but would fight for her in a minute. I did serve with Princess Louise's 8th Canadian Hussars...yeah I know a mouthful.......for 2 years. It was an armored recon unit and I got to spend 6 months in Cyprus on UN duty. The UN should be disbanded....thier rules of engagement a joke.
