Gaddafi's Every Day Carry
Seeing as its now one of the most famous Semi's on the web, any spectulation on what it is (model, calibre, etc.)? Also, is it probable that it could actually be used as a weapon or was purely ceremonial. Maybe it fires silver bullets...

Gold plated HP
Not sure if it was his daily carry but the video of his capture, showed a gold plated HP. If you watch the video it will stand out or at least it did to me. ..
The one I have not found out about, was the one taken from Sadam by our walking heros Be Safe !!!

The golden gun is a Browning/FN Hi-Power Mark III. It's being discussed thoroughly over on a Hi-Power forum. Here's a post with a close-up of it:
http://forums.1911forum.com/showpost...1&postcount=11 And yes, Saddam Hussein did also have a Hi-Power. |

Could anyone who reads Arabic tell me what the writing foreward of the trigger and beneath the barrel mean? "If found please return to..."?

I read that in Iraq, the Hipowers were a sign of status among Saddam's officers. If you were crappy - you got a Helwan 1951 or a Tokarev.
Didn't do him much good when push came to shove. I recall them interviewing an Iraqi gun store owner before Gulf War II - surprising - they had gun stores. Folks were stocking up and he had a big poster for the 1951s.

I have not seen pictures of his gun yet. Interesting. If you look closely, you'll see some arabic writting in black. The only word I could make out was the last one (right to left) which says "Gahdaffi". I suck at reading arabic but I'll ask my dad to translate on sunday and report back.

funny thing...
In my personal experience in certain middle eastern countries, seemingly everyone has a rifle. They hardly garner any attention from the locals. However they do notice when someone displays a pistol. Pistols arent very common. That person usual gets some form of deference/ respect because in their eyes that person usually has some authority.

I've seen this video about a dozen times, at the 04 and 12 second mark some Rebel has a big "Honking" silver revolver, can't make out the make though.

Cool, a $1,000,000. High Power, not because of the gold, but who the owner was. We should see it at auction within the next 6 months.
