1858 Remington Sheriff in casehardened steel
I found this beauty at http://www.emf-company.com/store/pc/...STEEL-c190.htm
and was interested in buying one but it said that it was Out of Stock. I assumed that they were selling a lot of them so I sent an email to them asking when they would be getting more back in. They replied that they were not carying them any more since they did not sell many. Too bad.

man, that's a shame--sure is a pretty thing. Keep an eye out here though. I've seen more than one up for sale here on occasion.

Handsome yes. But compared to Cabela's sale prices for the non-fluted cylinder models, it's a lot more expensive to basically just get a fluted cylinder. No wonder they didn't sell many. If buying the fluted cylinder at a reasonable price was an option, then more folks might be interested in only buying that.

One of the reasons that I wanted them is because I don't like the barrels on Remingtons. They are heavy because of the octagonal shape and length. Since they don't come in round barrels I would prefer the 5 1/2" barrel what EMS had as opposed to the length of the Cabelas model. It appears that Cabelas does'nt carry them in the 5 1/2" barrel with the case hardened frame look. Also the grips on the EMF looked nicer.

Maybe I would have to by two from Cabelas. One in the long barrel and case hardened look and one with the 5 1/2" barrel and then swap barrels and loading levers and then I would have a standard blue Rem to sell to someone that would want one, but that would be expensive and a hassle.

Two pistols is always more than twice as good as one.
