9mm Frontier N340 Loads
I am very new to reloading and am trying to find a start load for 9mm using
Vhitavouri N340 powder Frontier CMJ Swaged 124gr RN Bullets Magtech primers. I can’t find any data using Frontier bullets and N340. Can anybody advise me on a safe start and max loads? Frontiers data is for cast but (not swaged) @ 4.5gr min 5.1 max. My Lyman manual doesn’t list 124gr at all. Vihtavouri list Lapua 124gr bullets but they are FMJ @ 4.5gr min 5.1gr max loads. But will the Frontier bullet dimensions be exactly the same? (They are exactly 150mm long with flat base) Thank you |

Will the CMJ bullets be classed as FMJ as far as the loads go?
Lee list 124gr Jacketed bullets with N340 5.3gr start load 5.8 max The min load is higher than the max listed by Vihtavouri but still using COL 29mm (1.142) Should I try 10 rounds @ 4.5gr loads and see if they cycle ok in the pistol? Really appreciate some advice Last edited by richfr; May 12, 2011 at 07:31 AM. |

Start at the lowest low and work up until you achieve the performance you desire or encounter pressure problems, which ever comes first. One mag load at each interval is sufficient.

Well I loaded up my first 10 rounds with 4.5gr and they functioned as they should with no over pressure signs on the cases or primers
They shoot slightly low compared to the factory rounds I used at 25m but grouping ok so will try 20 rounds @ 4.6gr and try again. Thanks again to those that helped me and everyone on here in general these threads are a good source of help and information |

Remember, higher velocity will give you a lower impact point than slower velocity with the same bullet. Sometimes the difference is not much, sometimes it is. It is always good to start low and work up your load. Good luck.
